PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal medium in which a liquid crystal mixture operates even at an extremely high temperature or an extremely low temperature as well as has a short response time, exhibits a behavior with improved reliability, and in particular, prevents or significantly reduces image sticking after long operating times.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal medium shows negative dielectric anisotropy and comprises at least one compound expressed by formula (I). More particularly, usage of the liquid crystal medium is provided for an active matrix display based on a VA, PS-VA, PALC, FFS or IPS effect. In the formula, Rand Reach independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and a represents 0 or 1. |
