PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for sterilizing a container, having an x-ray shielding device.SOLUTION: An apparatus 1 for sterilizing a container 10 includes: a transport device which transports a container 10 along a predetermined transport pathway T; at least one stress application device which applies radiation, in particular, electromagnetic radiation, to the container 10 for sterilization; and a shielding device 20 which shields generated x-rays for use in sterilization. The shielding device 20 has at least one outer wall 22 which extends along the transport pathway T of the container and defines the boundary of the transport pathway T. The outer wall 22 has at least one recess to form a cavity facing the transport pathway T of the container 20, in a way that allows the x-rays generated during sterilization to enter. |
