The purpose of the present invention is to reduce the cost of implementing an indoor positioning system that uses inaudible sound. In one embodiment of the present invention, a positioning system is provided with a first acquisition unit, a second acquisition unit, and a positioning unit. The first acquisition unit acquires a reception record indicating that a fixed receiver has received signal-source-specific inaudible sound from a plurality of signal sources. The second acquisition unit acquires, from a storage unit, signal source information for a plurality of signal sources corresponding to a fixed receiver disposed near a mobile terminal. Here, the signal source information includes information for specifying a signal source from inaudible sound, the inaudible sound transmission timing of the signal source, and the position of the signal source. The positioning unit specifies a plurality of signal sources corresponding to a plurality of inaudible sounds received by the mobile terminal on the basis of the signal source information and carries out positioning using the signal source information for said plurality of signal sources and mobile-terminal reception records for the plurality of inaudible sounds. |
