PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle door latch device configured to keep a door closed even if the door is deformed, with comparatively simple means.SOLUTION: An outside lever 21 is formed of a first outside lever 211 which is pivotally supported by a pivot 26 so as to be rotated vertically, and a second outside lever 212 which can move inward with respect to the first outside lever 211 and is rotated in a release direction by linking an external end with an outside handle via an operation force transmission member 3. In normal operation, rotation of the second outside lever 212 in the release direction can be transmitted to the first outside lever 211. When an external force is applied inward to the second outside lever 212, the second outside lever 212 relatively moves inward with respect to the first outside lever 211, thereby preventing rotation of the second outside lever 212 in the release direction from being transmitted to the first outside lever 211. |
