Various embodiments are directed to techniques for placing and receiving calls via a web-browser interface. In some embodiments communication connection logic may be be executed by a processor component to receive a request to establish a bi-directional communication session between a first endpoint and multiple endpoints via a uniform resource indicator (URI) accessed via a web browser of the first endpoint, identify the second endpoints based on the URI, send a connection request to at least one of the second endpoints, receive a connection acceptance response from at least one of the second endpoints, and establish the bi-directional communication session between the first endpoint and the second endpoints. Other examples are described and claimed.

receive a request to establish a bi-directional communication session between a first user and a second user over an IP network or the IP network and at least one additional network, wherein
the communication session is between a first endpoint and at least one of multiple second endpoints associated with the second user, andthe communication session is initiated by the first endpoint through first user interaction with a soft-client accessing a uniform resource indicator (URI) associated with the second user.
