A vehicle starter motor including: a housing 11; an armature and a commutator each rotatably located within the housing 11, the commutator being for providing electric current to the armature; a brush plate 40 located within the housing 11 and including electrically conductive brushes through which an electric current can be delivered to the commutator; a first earth terminal 14 in electrical communication with the brush plate 40 and electrically insulated from the housing 11 and extending through a wall 13 of the housing 11 to outside of the housing 11; a second earth terminal formed from a first conductive member 24 in electrical communication with the brush plate 40 and a second conductive member 50 attached to the first conductive member 24, the second earth terminal 50 being electrically insulated from the housing 11 and extending through a wall of the housing 11 to outside of the housing 11.
