<p>Provided are an electronic device having a card unit which is a signal processing unit and a system configuration which is optimal for carrying out a function extension, and a control method thereof. An electronic device of an embodiment comprises a card processing means, a first application processing means, a second application processing means, a display means, a video output control means, and a control means. The card processing means carries out a handover of data among card units which retain signal processing units. The first application processing means executes a first application for carrying out either a launch and quit of an operation of the signal processing unit of the card unit which is authenticated by the card processing means, or a selection of the card unit. The second application processing means executes a second application which functions as a user interface for operating the signal processing unit of the card unit. The display means displays a display corresponding to the operations of the first and second application processing means and displays video playback. The video output control means outputs an output signal corresponding to the display corresponding to the operations of the first and second application processing means and the video playback which the display means displays. The control means controls the operations of the first and second application processing means and the video output control means.</p> |
