PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movement hardening apparatus and a movement hardening method for long work, which provide a hardening pattern with a uniform hardening depth and allow quick movement hardening.SOLUTION: Annular induction parts 5a and 6a of a heating coil 3 are arranged adjacently and made to each face the outer peripheral surface 29 of work W1. Until a specified time passes from the start of induction heat, only the first induction part 5a is applied with a high-frequency electric current, and only a first region of the work W1 is induction-heated, the induction part 5a facing the first region. After a lapse of the specified time, the second induction part 6a is also applied with a high-frequency electric current, and the heating coil 3 is moved along the work W1. A second region and a third region are induction-heated to certain temperatures and then induction-heated by the moved induction part 5a to reach the hardening temperature. As a result, a hardening pattern uniform in hardening depth over the whole regions of the work W1 to be hardened is formed. |
