<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem of a conventional fixing apparatus which is supplied with electric power depending on whether an image area or a non-image area: a temperature of a fixing roller may not reach a required fixing temperature in fixing a sheet P, due to a temperature of a member constituting the fixing apparatus, that is, a temperature required for fixation cannot be reached when a fixing member constituting the fixing apparatus is low, for example, or heat is excessively supplied when the temperature is high.SOLUTION: A fixing apparatus performs fixation by allowing a recording medium with an unfixed image carried thereon to pass through a nip part. Depending on whether an image area or a non-image area on the recording medium, the fixing apparatus adjusts the quantity of heat to be applied by a heating unit to a fixing member. A fixation control unit adjusts the quantity of heat to be applied by the heating unit to the fixing member on the basis of the temperature of the fixing member.</p> |
