摘要 The present application presents the development of a method for enhancing filtration capabilities of ceramic elements by chemically binding a hydrophilic compound throughout the porous structure of a ceramic element. An enhanced ceramic filter includes a ceramic element with chemically bound hydrophilic molecules. The enhanced ceramic filter is used in a system for the separation of non-polar compounds from aqueous mixtures. An aqueous mixture is passed through the enhanced ceramic filter, allowing water to permeate, and concentrate to exit the filter.
