Medical use of alpha- 1-microglobulin (AlM) in the treatment of prophylaxis of diseases wherein oxidative stress is a responsible factor in the progress of the disease. Notably, the present invention relates to the medical use of alpha-i microglobulin in the treatment or prophylaxis of diseases or conditions associated with the presences of free radicals and/or free haemoglobin in the subject.
