Amethod for displaying an image is provided, the method including: displaying, on a touchscreen of an electronic device, a plurality of items; selecting a first item from the plurality in response to an input received at the electronic device; detecting whether a condition for displaying an auxiliary area is satisfied; and responsive to the condition being satisfied, displaying the auxiliary area on the touchscreen.
