<p>The invention is directed to a lithographic printing plate precursor having at least an image-recording layer and a support, wherein the image-recording layer adjacent to the support or an undercoat layer provided between the support and the image-recording layer comprises (A) a polymer having a side chain having a structure represented by the following formula (I) or (II):
wherein R 1 represents a monovalent group, L 1 represents a divalent connecting group connecting to a main chain of the polymer, L 2 represents a divalent connecting group, X + represents -N + R 2 R 3 -; -S + R 2 -, - r + -, -P + R 2 R 3 - or a group represented by the following formula (III), R 2 and R 3 each independently represents an alkyl group, an aryl group or a heteroaryl group, each of which may be substituted, or R 2 and R 3 may be combined with each other to form a ring, 1/n(A n ) represents an anion for making the structure represented by the formula (I) or (II) neutral, n represents an integer of from 1 to 3, and * represents a site connecting to the main chain of the polymer:
