<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition having good heat stability and excellently balanced properties such as phase difference-expressing tendency. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention is attained by modulating the ratio of hydrogen and methyl group bound to a carbon adjacent to a carbonyl group in the resulting imide resin.
