PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte capable of suppressing generation of gas when stored at high temperature in a charged state, and also capable of suppressing capacity drop when charged and discharged repeatedly, in a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. SOLUTION: There are provided: a nonaqueous electrolyte including an electrolyte and a nonaqueous solvent, the nonaqueous electrolyte containing a compound represented by the following general formula (1); and a battery including the nonaqueous electrolyte. (In the formula, R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>may be the same or different, and each represents a hydrocarbon group, a hydrocarbon group having a carbon-carbon unsaturated bond or a hydrocarbon group substituted with at least one halogen atom, and R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>represents a divalent group.)
