A method and system for purifying kitchen extract air comprising: a pre filter adapted for trapping large dust particles of incoming kitchen extract air; an electro static precipitator adapted for removing dust particles, smoke and grease; a turbulator adapted for converting a laminar flow of air into a turbulent flow; an ozone chamber comprising of a plurality of UV tubes adapted for exposing turbulent air to ozone for eliminating odour and reduction of organic contaminants; and a UV light chamber comprising of a plurality of UV tubes adapted for neutralization of remaining ozone in the kitchen extract air. The turbulator increases the time that the air is in the ozone chamber (dwell time). Interleaving parallel plates of the electrostatic precipitator may be charged and grounded. The size of particles held in the air at the electrostatic precipitator may be 0.01 microns. The frequency of UV light in the ozone chamber may be 184 nm and the frequency in the UV chamber may be 254 nm. The pre filter may be a washable metal mesh filter. The electrostatic precipitator may feature an ioniser. |
