PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump which uses a rotary type four-way switching valve to which a port can be added relatively easily and facilitates the connection of a defrosting bypass circuit, and to provide the rotary type four-way switching valve. SOLUTION: In the heat pump 1 which enables switching between a cooling cycle and a heating cycle by the rotary type four-way switching valve 5, a fifth defrosting port (De) 39 which communicates with a suction port (S) 36 is provided at the rotary type four-way switching valve 5 during defrosting, and a bypass circuit 12, which returns a hot gas introduced into an outdoor heat exchanger 6 to melt frost during defrosting from its downstream to a suction side of a compressor 4 through the fifth defrosting port (De) 39 and the suction port (S) 36, is connected to the fifth defrosting port (De) 39.
