An absorbent article, such as a diaper, a pant diaper, a sanitary napkin, an incontinence guard etc., includes components that are joined together by a bonding pattern. The bonding pattern has color-changing properties triggered by heat and/or pressure exerted during the bonding process, the color-changing properties being either irreversible or reversible. The color-changing properties may be accomplished by thermochromic pigments, thermochromic fibers and/or pressure-sensitive pigments.
