The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for recognizing an animal object using nose patterns of animals. The apparatus for recognizing an animal object using nose patterns of animals includes: an animal motion fixing unit to stop the motion of an animal object in order to acquire an identifiable nose pattern image necessary to recognize the animal object; an image acquiring unit to acquire and store a nose pattern image of the animal object whose motion has stopped by the animal motion fixing unit; and an image recognizing unit to generate, register, authenticate, and identify a nose pattern code from the nose pattern image acquired from the image acquiring unit or a compensated nose pattern image.
