PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixture that can accurately hold a workpiece at a predetermined position with respect to a reference plane without being unsteady, and inhibits possibility of causing damage such as scratch, deformation or crack on the workpiece while the workpiece is held by the fixture. SOLUTION: First and second fixture sections 22, 23 which clamp a workpiece W, constitute the fixture 21. Reference surfaces 21a, 21b to be used for setting the fixture on a machining table, are formed on outer side surfaces of the fixture 21, respectively. Workpiece holding surfaces 24, 25 of the first and second fixture sections 22, 23, are formed with protective layers 24a, 25a which are softer than a surface of the workpiece W. A synthetic resin with the friction coefficient lower than that of a metal composing the first and second fixture sections 22, 23, is used for the protective layers 24a, 25a.
