The present invention relates to a method for detecting fetal aneuploidy by subjecting a maternal sample to direct mass spectral analysis and analysing the spectra generated in the region 0-499 m/z. The present invention also relates to methods of detecting fetal aneuploidy by measuring the levels of certain metabolomics such as dihydrouracil.
