PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an idling stopping system for a vehicle, capable of surely transmitting information required for stopping a vehicle's idling and reducing facility cost. SOLUTION: The idling stopping system includes: a signal control unit 9 that makes a LED lighting unit 8 transmit a visible light signal, based on information on time left before a red traffic signal turns off which is transmitted from a signal generation unit 10; a provision signal generation unit 14 that generates information transmitted from the LED lighting unit 8, based on the visible light signal received by a light receiver 13; and a vehicle control section 15 that compares the information on the time left for the red traffic signal transmitted from the provision signal generation unit 14 with a prescribed threshold value, and, if the time left for the red traffic signal is larger than the threshold value, performs control for stopping an engine of a vehicle 5.
