PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a layer silicate compound enabling shortening of the synthetic time of a crystal of the layer silicate compound. SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing a layer silicate compound includes a hydrothermal treating process in which a mixed aqueous solution containing SiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>and Na<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O is reacted under a hydrothermal condition, and before the hydrothermal treating process a loading process in which the mixed aqueous solution and the ball as a medium are loaded in a vessel is carried out and in the hydrothermal treating process the vessel loaded with the mixed aqueous solution and the ball as a medium is put under a hydrothermal condition.
