[Class 83 (iii).] A removable blade 13 for a lathe tool, milling- cutter, &c. is secured in the body 10 by means of a wedge 14 which is tapered both longitudinally and transversely, the recess 19 in the body being correspondingly tapered. Serrations 14a, inclined to both directions of taper and approximately in the line of thrust on the cutting edge of the blade, are provided on the adjacent surfaces of the blade and wedge. The recess 19 is formed in an offset depending portion 11 of a lathe tool-holder to allow a long blade 13 to be used, and the latter is of uniform section throughout its length to allow adjustment thereof by engagement with different serrations on the wedge. In a milling &c. cutter, the recesses 19 are formed around the periphery of the body. |
