The present invention relates to seal 1 which may be used with a human waste macerator. The apparatus comprises a resilient elongate strip 2 with a substantially U-shaped cross-section forming an apex from which depends a pair of walls (8, 9 figure 2A). The apex of the U-shape forms a compressible bulb element 10, where the opposing surfaces of the walls have inter-engaging formations (5, 6 figure 2B) which hold the walls in position. The formations may be one or more protrusions and recesses. The seal strip may be formed into an annular ring and may be made of a plastics material with a metal carrier member 3 provided between the walls of the strip. The carrier strip may have one or more apertures (16 figure 4) dimensioned to align with the formations (5 figure 2B). A later embodiment relates to a method of assembling the seal. |
