PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forgery preventing paper with a metal thin film layer that can simply determine authenticity at a glance. SOLUTION: The forgery preventing paper 21 is produced by making a thread 11 in a paper layer of a paper substrate 1, and further printing a character, a figure or the like on the surface of the paper substrate 1. In the thread 11, a metal thin film layer whose thickness is continuously changed is laminated on a thread substrate and when observing under a backlight environment, the preset pattern, characters or the like is transparently seen. When the forgery preventing paper 21 is observed under a follow light environment, the shape of the thread 11 made in the paper substrate 1 is thinly seen, and further, when the forgery preventing paper 21 is observed under the backlight environment, in the thread 11 made in the paper substrate 1, a gradation occurs in transmitted light by the difference in thickness of the metal thin film layer and the preset pattern, characters or the like is transparently seen.
