The present invention relates to a backpack for saving life that is used as a backpack for putting burdens at ordinary times and is rapidly formed as a floating body that can be used for a long time in emergency such as disasters at sea to save lives. The backpack comprises: a hollow main body of the backpack that is opened or closed to be waterproof by a waterproof zipper installed at an upper part and is formed of a waterproof material; a pair of shoulder straps arranged on the rear surface of the main body of the backpack supported on the back of a user to be able to be hung on shoulders; an attachment and detachment part installed between the main body of the backpack and the shoulder straps and detachably fixing the shoulder straps to the rear surface of the main body of the backpack; and a gas injector installed on the front surface of the main body of the backpack, having an operation line, which a user can turn on, connected thereto, and injecting gas into the main body of the backpack if the gas injector is turned on by the operation of the user.
