The present invention relates to a compound from a serratia sp. and the use thereof and, more specifically, a compound with an outstanding antioxidant activity from a serratia sp. and the use thereof. The compound, serratinin, from the serratia sp. PAMC 25557 in the present invention has an outstanding performance like removing free radicals compared with that of an existing antioxidant agent and an outstanding stability for heat at the temperatures of large ranges and has an outstanding effect of chelating for Fe^2+ and accordingly replaces an existing synthesis antioxidant as a preventive antioxidant material.
