PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a sulfur-modified chloroprene polymer, which enables inhibition of toluene insoluble formation and adjustment of scorching time that cannot be achieved by the conventional simultaneous peptization-polymerization method. SOLUTION: The method for producing a sulfur-modified chloroprene polymer is characterized in that: chloroprene or a mixture of chloroprene and a monomer copolymerizable therewith is brought into emulsion polymerization in the presence of sulfur and a dithiocarbamate to produce a chloroprene polymer; this polymer is peptized in parallel with the production; after the polymerization, a tetraalkylthiuram disulfide and a dithiocarbamate represented by general formula (1) (wherein R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>are each a≤4C alkyl chain) are added to the resulting polymer; and further peptization is carried out.
