Melting and homogenization of multi- or bi-modal polyolefins in a first multi-screw (14, 15) extruder (1) followed by passage through a second extruder (2) is such that (a) the second extruder (2) has rotating screws (29, 30) having an outer diameter greater than that of screws (14, 15); (b) screws (14, 15) are driven faster than screws (29, 30); and (c) the shear rate in extruder (1) is higher than that in extruder (2). |
