This process includes applying a hard coat layer (51) to a thin optical film (such as a cellulose ester film (41)) which is formed by a solution casting method and has a thickness of 15 to 30mum and which contains not only 1 to 20wt% of a plasticizer having a property of being more densely distributed on a side that has acted as the support side in a casting process for film formation but also silica fine particles as a matting agent, wherein the hard coat layer (51) is applied onto a side such that the silica fine particle concentration on the side is higher than the overall average silica fine particle concentration of the thin optical film. |
