A method of treating a neurodegenerative disorder comprising administering into the brain of an individual in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a cell population of non-genetically modified human cells, ex vivo differentiated from bone-marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells, expressing at least one mesenchymal stem cell marker, not secreting nerve growth factor (bNGF) and secreting brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), wherein a basal secretion of said BDNF is at least five times greater than a basal secretion of said BDNF in a non-differentiated, non-genetically modified mesenchymal stem cell, wherein the neurodegenerative disease is selected from the group consisting of Parkinson's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Huntingdon's disease, thereby treating the neurodegenerative disorder.
