1. An apparatus comprising at least one processor; and at least one memory including computer program code; the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to:
generate, at a protocol layer at which logical channels are mapped onto transport channels, a bitmap comprising a series of bits, each bit indicating one of two predetermined states for a respective carrier and indicating one of two predetermined states for a corresponding paired reverse direction carrier of a predetermined group of carriers; and incorporate the bitmap into a protocol data unit at said protocol layer, wherein each bit further indicates whether or not said respective carrier is to be subjected to a predetermined measurement at a communication device.
