The present invention provides an anti-stress composition or an antihistamine including a Rhodiola rosea extract as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, the Rhodiola rosea extract included in the composition shows an anti-stress effect through the inhibition of substance P secretion, the inhibition of CGRP secretion, the inhibition of histamine release and the inhibition of interferon-gamma release, thereby being practically used as a cosmetic composition and a pharmaceutical composition to prevent and treat stress. Also, the Rhodiola rosea extract has an effect of inhibiting the release of histamine in mast cells, thereby being also practically used as an antihistamine.
