[Class 31 (i).] Apparatus for regrooving worn tyres comprises two fluted tyre driving and supporting rollers 12, Fig. 3, mounted between brackets 10, guiding rollers 18, 19, and a cutter 20, the cutter 20 and rollers 18, 19, being adjustably mounted on a tie rod 11 and on a cross bar 17. The cutter 20 comprises a tubular bracket 26, Figs. 4 and 5, supporting the cutting blade 32, and formed with an upper tubular bracket 27 threaded on the cross bar 17, and a lower bracket 28, in which is threaded a screw handle 31, the end 32a of which bears on the tie rod 11 to vary the angle of tilt of the bracket 26 and of the cutting blade 32. To vary the depth of cut, the blade 32 is carried in a threaded holder 33 having a vertical keyway 35 in which engages a pin 36 carried on the interior of the bracket 26, and in the lower end of the bracket 26 is mounted a sleeve 37 which is rotated by a hand wheel 38, and threaded internally to accommodate the thread of the holder 33. In a modification, Fig. 7, for grooving deflated tyres, a pair of guide rollers 42 are also mounted in the brackets 10, and a further pair of guide rollers 63 are mounted in a U-shaped frame 62 connected to a joint block 50. Rollers 60 adapted to engage the interior of the tyre to oppose the pressure of the cutter, are resiliently mounted in a U-shaped frame 52 also connected to the block 50. |
