<p>An embodiment discloses an apparatus for detecting a position, which includes a display panel having an image displayed thereon. The apparatus includes: a capacitive type position detector to recognize the touch of a finger or a pen by detecting the variation of a capacitance when the finger or the pen is touched; a static magnetic field position detector to detect the position of a magnet provided in the pen; and a controller to determine the touch position of the finger or the pen using the information of the detected positions transmitted from the capacitive type position detector and the static magnetic field position detector. The static magnetic field position detector includes a static magnetic field sensor part having a plurality of hall elements. When an application program executed through the display panel allows only a single touch as an input instruction of a user, and when at least two touches are recognized through the static magnetic field position detector, the controller commences the driving of the static magnetic field position detector.</p> |
