The tool (1) has a cylindrical handle (5) for manually gripping the tool. A flat end (12) of a screw is projected from an end of the handle and adapted to cooperate with a control element (10), which controls a locking mechanism (2). The locking mechanism is actuated by the rotation of the control element. A finger-like part (13) is projected from another end of the handle and adapted to cooperate with a lock (3) of a door (4) of a car for switching the lock by exerting pressure on the lock in locked position. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling operation of a locking mechanism in locked position of a lock of a door of a car by using a tool.
