[Class 38 (ii).] A transformer includes one primary 10 and two secondary windings 11, 12, the secondary winding 12 being provided with taps 13 and a switch 14 for maintaining a constant voltage in this winding. The voltage in the winding 11 is regulated by a small auxiliary transformer having windings 15, 16, of which 16 is in series with the secondary winding 11, and the other is connected between the switch 14 and the middle tap of winding 12. Any tap changing to regulate the voltage in the winding 12 will induce a voltage in the winding 16 which can be arranged, i.e. by a suitable number of turns in the windings 15, 16, to regulate the voltage in the secondary winding 11.</p> |
