The present invention relates to a display panel and a display device containing the same. According to the present invention, the display device comprises a display panel, a flexible substrate attached to the side of the display panel, and a cover arranged at the rear of the display panel. The display panel comprises: a first substrate in which an electrode line and a switching element are arranged; a second substrate arranged to face the first substrate; a seal part for bonding the first substrate and the second substrate together; a pad electrode which is arranged in the vertical direction at a position overlapping with the seal part and is electrically connected to the electrode line; and a side electrode which is connected to one end surface of the pad electrode and covers a part located at the side of the seal part. The flexible substrate is electrically connected to the side electrode. At least one edge of the front surface of the display panel can be exposed.
