The present invention relates to operation of an electronic device, and more specifically, to operation of an application (shortened as′app′) of an electronic device. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for operating an electronic device comprises: movement to detect a request for executing an application; movement to determine whether an alternate application exists in an exterior device which is connected to the electronic device by responding to the execution request; and movement to transmit a request for executing the alternate application to the exterior device when the alternate application is determined to exist in the exterior device.
