Provided is a brake device that can improve ease of installation in a vehicle. The brake device is provided with a master cylinder (4) for generating brake fluid pressure by the driver's braking, and a stroke simulator (5) for letting in brake fluid flowing out from the master cylinder (4) and generating pseudo-operation reactive force in a brake operation member, the master cylinder (4) and the stroke simulator (5) being integrally disposed so as to overlap each other in the vertical direction (as seen from the vertical direction) when installed in a vehicle.
