The present invention relates to a method and a logical structure for controlling power of a transmission module in a terminal according to network transmission traffic. The terminal of the present invention comprises: a terminal control unit configured to control the overall operations of the terminal; a key input unit configured to receive a key inputted by a user and accordingly, if a key event signal is generated, deliver the key event signal to the terminal control unit; a display unit configured to display an image signal by control of the terminal control unit; a power supply unit configured to supply power to the terminal; and a network connection unit configured to transmit/receive data to/from an external network, wherein the terminal control unit controls the power of the power supply unit to be supplied to a transmission module of the network connection unit only if there exists traffic to be transmitted to the outside through the network connection unit. According to the present invention, to control the sleep state of the terminal, a switch is provided between the transmission module and the power supply unit and cuts off the power according to whether there is data required for transmission. Therefore, a refreshing operation is not required and the waste of power consumed for the refreshing operation can be prevented. |
