405,674. Locking nuts. BOITEL, A. F., 168, Kaiserallee, Wilmersdorf, Berlin. Aug. 4, 1932, No. 21927. [Class 89 (i).] A means for locking a nut comprises a pin a housed in a recess c in the nut and engaging the bolt. The pin is resiliently forced into engagement, being connected to a shank b<2> which is also connected to a shank b<1>. The recess c may be in the form of an isosceles triangle so that the locking member may be applied to either face of the nut. Fig. 8 shows a construction in which the shank b<2> is connected to a second shank b<1>. A second pin a<1> may be located in a slot c<1> and may act in the same or opposite direction as the pin a. The locking pins a or a<1> may be connected to the member b by means of a bridge piece i and shank b<1>, as shown in Fig. 11, or in a further modification the bridge piece may be replaced by an inclined strut. The shank on the outside of the nut may be bent at the bottom to prevent accidental removal. The device may be attached to the head of a bolt, in which case the recess c is formed in the bolt. Specification 401,766 is referred to.
