PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor capable of accurately obtaining the concentration of hydrocarbon gas even if water vapor is contained in measured gas.SOLUTION: A main pump cell 21 adjusts oxygen partial pressure of a first internal empty space 20 so that hydrocarbon gas in measured gas in the first empty space 20 does not substantially burn. An auxiliary pump cell 50 adjusts oxygen partial pressure of a second internal empty space 40 so that a combustible gas component except hydrocarbon gas, among combustible gas components in the second internal empty space 40, is selectively combusted. Then, a measuring pumping cell 47 supplies the surface of a measuring electrode 44 with oxygen to combust all the hydrocarbon in the measured gas being in contact with the measuring electrode 44, on the surface of the measuring electrode 44. At this time, the concentration of a hydrocarbon gas component in the measured gas is determined based on the magnitude of a current flowing between the measuring electrode 44 and a main pump electrode 23. |
