PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogel fiber for injection used in medical applications.SOLUTION: A device, a composition, a system and a related method for occluding a structure or a dysplasia in the lumen of the human body with a flexible and injectable hydrogel fiber which includes one or more visualization agent and has a delay-controlled expansion rate are provided. The structure and dysplasia can be an arbitrary number of brain diseases and/or periphery diseases. The delay-controlled expansion rate is imparted through incorporation of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer having an ionizable functional group, e.g. an amine or a carboxylic acid. When acrylic acid is incorporated into a cross-linked polymer network, e.g. the hydrogel can be introduced through a micro-catheter filled with blood of a physiological pH or a physiological saline solution and does not expand sufficiently until the carboxylic acid group is deprotonated. |
