PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of eliminating heavy metals from smog derived from a combustion process.SOLUTION: A method of eliminating heavy metals in flu gas comprises the steps of: a) arbitrarily eliminating heavy metals or compounds thereof having mean particle sizes greater than 10 microns by filtration of solid particles or particulate materials; b) washing the flue gas using a water phase containing acid and an oxidizer and having a pH of 0.7 to 3.3, and moving the heavy metals or the compounds thereof to the water phase; c) cooling the flue gas, partially condensing steam contained in the flue gas, and separating a condensed phase in a scrubber; d) discharging the flue gas that does not substantially contain the heavy metals or the compounds thereof into atmosphere; and f) discharging the water phase that does not substantially contain the heavy metals and the compounds thereof into the atmosphere. |
