An apparatus (1 ) for making smokers' articles (14) comprises conveyor means (7) for feeding along a first path (P1) in a feed direction (D1) a succession of pieces (6) of smokers' products intended to form part of cylindrical smokers' articles (14); feed means (11') for feeding a web (10) of sheet material; a garniture tongue (7) whereby at least one continuous rod (8) enclosing the cylindrical pieces (6) in the web (10) of sheet material is formed and which extends along the predetermined path (P1); and a cutoff device (13) for subdividing the continuous rod (8) into cylindrical smokers' articles (14); the apparatus (1) also comprises at least one applicator device (21, 22, 27) for applying strips (23, 24) of web; the applicator device (21, 22, 27) being located along a second path (P2) to apply the strips (23, 24) on at least one surface of the web (10) of sheet material in such a way that they are oriented transversely to the second path (P2). |
