LASER WITH FULL C-BAND TUNABILITY AND NARROW LINEWIDTH

<p>A laser comprises a front mirror (750), a gain section (745) a phase section (740) and a back mirror (715). Front and back mirror with comb reflection spectra are used to enable full C-band tunability using the Vernier effect. To reduce the spectrum width of the reflectivity peaks of the back mirror, the back mirror comprises an interferometer formed by a power splitter 735 and a comb reflector (730) such as a sampled Bragg grating in one arm of the interferometer and a delay line (720) such as a phase adjusting section and a high reflection coating (710) in the other arm of the interferometer.</p>
