The present invention relates to a discovery method and apparatus. A communication method of a first user equipment (UE) according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: obtaining, from an eNB (evolved Node B), first resource area information indicating a first resource area and second resource area information indicating a second resource area; receiving a first message from a second UE over the first resource area; determining whether the contents of the first message match the first UE; and if the contents of the first message match the first UE, transmitting a second message corresponding to the first message to the second UE over the second resource area. A first UE according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a communication unit for obtaining, from an eNB, first resource area information indicating a first resource area and second resource area information indicating a second resource area and receiving a first message from a second UE over the first resource area; and a control unit for determining whether the contents of the first message match the first UE.
