An ink transfer apparatus for transferring liquid to at least one roller of a sheet printing apparatus (2) having a blanket cylinder (8) for applying ink to a sheet (4) of material is disclosed. The ink transfer apparatus comprises ink transfer rollers (14, 16, 18, 20) for transferring ink to a plate cylinder (22) and a first motor (24) for causing rotation of the ink transfer rollers, and a controller (28) for receiving a first input signal dependent on the torque of the first motor. The controller receives a second input signal dependent on the torque of a second motor (36) for causing rotation of the blanket cylinder for applying liquid to the sheet of material, and controls the first and second motors in dependence on the first and second input signals to reduce relative movement between mutually engaging surfaces of at least one of said ink transfer rollers. |
